md5pw is a tool for maintaining passwords. It takes only one string as parameter (which can be a hostname) and asks for a master password. From this data it generates a password based on md5 and prints it using shell escapes with blue foreground and blue background colors, so a third person will not be able to look at the generated password, while you are still able to copy/paste it for usage.

A compiler such as gcc is required to compile md5pw.

For installation run:

% ./configure % make % su # make install

You can supply some additional parameters to configure, for details type:

./configure --help
